Man arrested for locking up his son in car garage for 7 years


The Kano State Police Command has arrested one Aminu Farawa for locking up his biological 30-year-old son, Ahmed Aminu, inside his car garage for seven years on the suspicion of drug abuse.

Aminu Farawa, a resident of Farawa Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government area of Kano State allegedly locked up his son inside his car garage (solitary confinement) within his house for about seven (7) years without proper feeding and health care.

Spokesperson of the police, DSP Abdullahi Haruna who confirmed the development on Friday said in a statement which was released to the press,that good samaritans reported the incidence leading to the rescue of the victim at about 11:15 pm on Thursday night and that he has been admitted at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for proper treatment.


According to Mr Aminu, the victims father,he had his son locked up for three years after suspecting him of drug abuse.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
