Joy Maduabuchi Iheanacho has revealed how Akara Police station, Lagos State allegedly handed over her child to a trafficker and later demanded N200,00 to help her track the woman they gave the child to.

Narrating her ordeal in the hand of the Police, the mother said her son who has been missing for four years got missing while returning from school.

On seeing him on Facebook and been told to come and claim her child at the station, she went there and they demanded the child’s birth certificate and immunization card.

After showing them the documents, the Police said they have handed over the child to a woman who is in Imo State and will need the sum of N200,000 to help her track her child again.

Her cry for help got the attention of human rights activists and social media commentator, Segun Awosanya, popularly know as Segalink, who is now calling the attention of the Police authority in the state to solve the problem.

“So in a nutshell @PoliceNG gave Joy’s child to a stranger without any tangible documentation & resorted to extorting her serially to track the hoodlum cum child trafficker that impersonated the mother of the child. This happened in Alakara Police station in Lagos, not in a Forest!

“We’ve obtained the names of the officers involved in this atrocity and will do the needful within the next 72hrs to ensure the child is found and returned to the rightful parents without inflicting further pains on them emotionally and financially. This is pathetic,” he said.
