#endSARS: UK Parliament debates sanctions against Nigerian govt Officials

Members of the United Kingdom parliament today began debating to impose direct sanctions on government officials, who played a role in violating human rights during the protest instead of a general economic sanction that may affect ordinary citizens.

The UK parliament during the debate today, strongly condemned the cases of police brutality and the use of force against peaceful protesters, reiterating it’s belief in the rights of citizens to freedom of expression.

It also considered handing out sanctions to Nigerian Government officials involved in the killing of peaceful protesters in Lekki on October 20 and other parts of the country.

The members of parliament mentioned that they were pleased with the disbandment of SARS and attempts by the Buhari administration at reforming the Nigerian Police Force.
