Undentified gunmen have kidnapped 12 assistant-superintendents of police (ASPs),attached to the Borno State Police Command along the Katsina-Zamfara axis.
Security sources told BBC Hausa Service that the officers who are Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASPs, were travelling to the North-western states on an official assignment when the incident occurred.
The sources said the officers went missing between Katsina and Zamfara, before reaching their destination.
BBC Hausa disclosed that one of the abductees called his wife and asked her to raise N1m, noting that there would be trouble if she fails. “He called me on Wednesday and told me that he was in the hands of the kidnappers….
When the BBC contacted the Zamfara and Katsina states police, the spokesmen of the command said they had not been briefed about the incident.
