Multiplatinum selling and multiple Grammy award winning American Music star Akon has kicked off his #AkonCity project in Mbodiene,Senegal.
Akon accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Transport, Aljoner Badara Thiam presented his Akon City project to the Senegalese Head of State,President Macky Sall.
The excited Singer and businessman took to his social media pages to share the good news.
” The project has started. I came here today to meet the people of Mbodiene in order to explain the contours and advantages of this great project of international dimension. Above all, I would like her to feel involved and to know that the project is primarily for those who live in this locality. We will do everything to achieve our goal ”recalled the rapper.
The Akon City project will cost more than US $ 6 billion.
The first phase will be completed in 2023 and will allow the rapper to build roads, a campus for the Hamptons hospital, a Hamptons shopping center, residences, hotel schools etc. Not to mention the landfill for the city’s waste and a solar power plant to supply the whole.
The second phase of the Akon City project is expected to start in 2024 and end in 2029. It will allow the full construction of the city which will operate exclusively with the Akoin cryptocurrency.
The Real-Life Wakanda will provide Jobs for Africans and Boost Senegal’s Tourism. Akon first announced the idea of Akon City in 2018. He described it as a “real-life Wakanda,” comparing it to the technologically advanced fictional African city in the blockbuster movie “Black Panther.”
